I think that this is a good sign! At logitech.com, I have just checked my pre-order status for THE TOUCH. It has been at "order submitted" forever, BUT NOW order status is listed as " order in process"! I think this is a step forward....what do you think?

I wonder if anyone else who's completed orders from logitech can give us some insight on what 'order in process' means, ie does it change to this a week before shipping. Maybe change the title of this topic to attract more readers?

Yes....interesting that it is termed "order in process" and not "order in proGRESS".

Hi Guys,
Apologies but this may be a long post.
Fascinated by the possible change in Touch order status, I thought I'd check mine. On the relevant web page I was informed "No Orders were found" when copy and pasting the order no. from Logitech's e-mail order confirmation.
Quickly on to the phone (I'm in the UK) I was soon talking to a young lady in USA (judging by ringing tone), who also told me she couldn't find the order and was I sure about it. When told that I was reading it from Logitech's confirmatory e-mail she put me on hold whist she spoke to her supervisor. Acouple of minutes later she was back asking me for my e-mail address and again put me on hold whilst she spoke to her supervisor. A couple of minutes later she was back to confirm that the order was found and that in was in process (not proGRESS) and read out my delivery address for confirmation. I then asked what that meant exactly and could she advise me of when it was likely to be shipped. Again put on hold whilst she spoke to the supervisor and this time she was away a lot longer. She returned to tell me that the supervisor was not available, but would respond by e-mail or phone (I chose e-mail) within 24 hours and gave me a reference no. for the call.
I'll keep you posted - keep your fingers crossed, the situation MAY be changing.

I am pretty sure that the moment Andy decides (I would think he is the most logical person to make the decision), that Touch is released to shipping, he will make an announcement here, and then quickly head off to celebrate.

Q: Is v.7.5 on a similar schedule?

I believe that they are tied at the hip.
I could be wrong on this.

Hmmm, sounds like the the February date given back in December was another pie-in-the-sky guess.

Oh well, at least Touch is doing a good job of keeping the rumor mill up and running.

Andy a lyrical compatriot of yours once said "human kind
Cannot bear very much reality". We will I think all cope a lot better for being given the facts, re audio bits'n'pieces anyway.

Thanks for giving us the gospel on this. I figured that we had a day or two to go from https://bugs.slimdevices.com/buglist.cgi?priority=P1&priority=P2&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&query_format=advanced&order=Importance&target_milestone=7.5.0

There are a lot of people looking forward to the Touch. As many have noted the Squeezeboxes of various ilk have been the best thing since fried bread. Keep up the good work, and keep the facts coming whenever you think is appropriate.

P.S. If you haven't got Melody Gardot's CDs "My One and Only Thrill" and "Worrisome Heart" I recommend a listen. Magic stuff.

Pat, I wouldn't have disagreed a few months ago. But since the product is pushed back, and there are substantive changes that have relevance for all the players, I was hoping we're not all now effectively waiting on the T as a chokepoint. Maybe it's not that big of a deal to release a later version of software with the hardware.

Hopefully Andy can give us some insight here.

7.5 will be released with Touch.

7.4.2 will be released soon to address Radio alarm and battery issues, as well as other server fixes.

My pre-order status last week (from dec. 1 2009) was changed to EOL confirmed by Logitech!

So I could collect my money back or alter the order to something else, which I did, a new tiny notebook.

But the funny thing is Logitech silenced in all languages!!!
Only speculations about release dates, and nothing more.
Get'in touchy with the Touch, well I don't (anymore)!

Logitech (well, andyg who works for them, and is the best person to know timelines) has been very open about the status of the touch...

It will be ready When It Is Ready.

What would you rather have:
. A hard and fixed delivery date, which will be met whether the product is ready or not
or
. A best guess as to when the product will be ready, with acknowledgement that it is really just an educated guess based on when they believe it will be in a state that will make you happy with the product instead of being rushed out before it is ready.

Speculation on a 'when it will be ready' is better, IMHO, than shipping something that is "almost" ready.

Hopefully he's been trying to lower our expectations so we're all ecstatic when it comes out on 1st Feb :)

Hah, that would be nice.

An old adage of predicting timelines: take your best estimate, increment the number by one and increase the units by one.

So, "two weeks" becomes "three months".

Saves a lot of grief when unexpected complications arise. ("Wow, you got this done in two months when you said three! Good job!" sure beats "why are you 6 weeks late?")
