Hi guys,

as I´m new to the whole Squeezebox stuff, could you help me if it´s possible to add the Chill Digital Radio to my Squeezebox? URL for Playing is
http://mediasrv.musicradio.com/Chill

In the Browser the Media Player starts, but when I add this URL on the Squeezebox Server for a Player it doesn´t start. Do I need a plugin for this? I would like to have this Radio in my Favorites ...

Thanks

Tobias

I'm assuming you have SqueezeBoxServer installed on your local pc?

Option 1 (this is the way I use on the SqueezeBox Classic)

If so go to http://localhost:9000 on the pc which the server is running.

If you hover the mouse over Favorites you can edit them (little icon on the right).

You can then add a favorite with "New Favorite". Type a useful name and paste your link from the above into the URL field. It should then be available on your favorites.

Option 2 (more radio specific)
Go to http://localhost:9000 on the pc which the server is running.
Click on Internet Radio, then Tune URL and paste the url there and play.
If you hold down a preset button on the radio or select (+) and add to favorites you can add it.

Hi,

well thanks so far. You´re right, I´m trying to get my URL working via
the Squeezebox Server. To be honest, I´m able to add a favorite or a
URL. My problem is, that the mentioned URL
(http://mediasrv.musicradio.com/Chill) is not working in the
Squeezecenter when playing. Using it in the Browser, no problem.

So my question aims how I can approach to get this URL running ...

Thx - Tobias

The URL plays OK for me when I paste into the "Tune-in" box.

What player have you got ?
Does your player have internet access ?

To be honest, I´m trying it with Softsqueeze and Slavesqueeze. When
tuning the URL and pressing play, on the right side the URL turns into
http://192.168.178.11:9000/songinfo.html?player=3f:69:69:6f:67:8b&item=-509037664
tries to play for 5 sec and then stops, no sound

Unlike the hardware players SOftsqueeze and Squeezeslave do not have WMA support. On Windows WMA transcoding support is standard and so software players can "play" WMA streams (in fact the WMA streams are transcoded by the SBS server). On Linux and OSX you need additional plugin but this is not available on most ReadyNAS models.

I would have expected the "Unable to play" message to be displayed when using Softsqueeze. Are you really using Softqueeze and not Squeezeplay ?

In summary - you would not have this problem with a hardware player.

Well, you´re right. I´m sorry but my last tests were with Squeezeslave,
and there for sure I don´t see anything on the player. Using
Softsqueeze, it says "file type cannot be played" (or something like
this, I translated).

Because I´m running my Squeezeserver on a CentOS Linux machine I should
be able to add WMA support? Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for the quick help

Tobias

Got it working. Installing AlienBBC and mplayer helped, now this stream
is also playing on Softsqueeze.

Thanks again for the hint!

Ok the sofsqueeze/sqslave may not support it. I was at my PC when testing and it worked on hardware player and on SqueezePlay without problems. Actually enjoyed the stream while working too :)

lrossouw,

what OS is your SBS on ?
What OS was Squeezplay running if not the same PC ?

If it is Windows - it inludes WMA transcoding by default unlike Linux and OSX.

Yes it was windows. So you are right.
