Got my Duet two weeks ago and have been very happy with the hardware and interface. The only problem is that the music library scan has never completed successfully. The library exists on the Duet, but it only contains about half the songs.

My collection is modestly sized: about 27k songs across 1.5k folders. Almost all .mp3 files with a smattering of .flac and .wma.

The log doesn't seem to indicate any problem with specific files. I've tried removing the folder of the last offending file and rescanning, but it doesn't matter -- the scanner just chokes on something else.

The error message in the control panel is:
"Music scan terminated unexpectedly (Directory Scan)"

Latest log:

If you check the server.log instead of scanner.log what do you see there ?

What anti virus are you using ?

As requested:

- Squeezebox Server version is 7.4.1
- OS is Vista
- Antivirus is NOD32, though I don't suspect a problem here since the scan is able to access the music library and get some songs -- it just can't get them all before this error hits.

Server.log has some errors but I can't decipher or link them to the scanning:

NOD32 is known to cause problems with Squeezebox Server. Please make sure the following settings are ok:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/ESET_NOD32_Antivirus

> [09-12-13 15:17:05.4664] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1165) Warning:
> [15:17:05.3649] Use of uninitialized value $compiled in concatenation
> (.) or string at
> /<C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\SQUEEZ~3.EXE>Template/Provider.pm line
> 605.

These error messages aren't caused by the server, they're related to the web UI.

That's probably caused by NOD32's web scanner.

Thanks for the tip. I shutdown the antivirus program and the scan completed perfectly!

I shouldn't need to scan too often, so I'll just temporarily stop AV when I need to. Thanks again.

Case closed.
