View Full Version : Transcode MP3Pro at SlimServer?

Hi,

I'm wondering whether there's a way for the SlimServer to distinguish
between MP3 and MP3Pro streams and use convert.conf to transcode the MP3Pro
stream directly to WAV. I was thinking this might be possible with Audion as
the converter. I'm running my Squeezeboxes wired and have no trouble
streaming WAV files directly, so I'm hoping to work around the lack of
direct support for MP3Pro in the Squeezebox.

Anyway, I'd just like a feasibility assessment given current SlimServer
capability. Beyond that, if anyone wanted to speculate about what would be
necessary to make this a permanent feature in the SlimServer, I'd appreciate
that as well.

Thanks for your help,

David

I'm not totally clear on the licensing of the mp3PRO codec, but I doubt
we'll ever see it compaible with open software, even if only for
decoding. I'd love to be proven wrong...

but if a SB user owned a validly licensed decoder, it would be nice to
give them hooks to use it in this way.
