Can anyone give me a ballpark figure how long rescanning a 25K flac collection 'should' take? In my rescan the scan of the files itself takes around as much time as scanning the artwork. I'm looking for a reference figure for the whole process.

Thanks, Ralph

I just rescanned about 55,000 tracks, mixture of FLAC and mp3 files. Total time was about 1 hour 15 minutes. (on a windows XP machine with SbS 7.4.1).

This is highly depended and your hardware and OS
and also on the size of your artwork or if you have embedded artwork ,and the complexity of your tags etc .

But your figures are not unusual. they seems normal enough to me.

Edit: cpu type and speed and ram ?

I've seen that behavior when "Use iTunes" is selected.
