My Slim seems to be hurting...

The display will frequently shutdown (as does the unit) when I turn it
on and try to use it. I have to restart and reconnect it to the
network... even then it frequently does not correctly initiate and get
ready to play.

I am running 5.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.3.4 with static IP ...the slim is
hard wired to my network. Looks like it has 2.3 running on the
hardware.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,
JG

Could you confirm the firmware version? If it's actually 23, it probably
should be upgraded to the version that ships with 5.2.1 - 29. You can
check the firmware version by booting up your Squeezebox, going into the
setup menu and choosing "View current settings". The firmware version is
part of the list of settings.

23 is the latest it seems I can do on my Slimp3. I just did the update
from 5.2.1 and it's 23 again

when I restart the server I get the hardware back, but it takes forever
to scan my library which has about 21,000 tracks. I'd like it to just
work like it is supposed to.

Some confusion here: you just said "slim" so it wasn't clear if you
were talking about SLIMP3 or Squeezebox.

The latest SLIMP3 firmware is version 2.3

The latest Squeezebox firmware is version 29

So you are up to date.
