Ha anyone installed Squeezebox Server on latest Readynas NVX?

How is the performance of streaming (mp3, flac, aac) and the web UI?

Is a 2GB ram upgrade necesseary?

It's x86 based - which is a good thing. You might expect PC class performance.

SBS doesn't use much RAM, 1GB on the server running it is more than enough.

It has the same processor at the Pro, doesn't it? I added 2 gigs of ram to my pro (it was cheap), so I have a total of 3 gigs.

The pro works fantastically! The web interface is instant. Ipend works great with it. Someone at ReadyNAS forum was kind enough to write a add-on to put LAME on and I am now able to bit limit and stream over the internet.

Anyway, I would suspect that the NVX ought to work as well

I'm too using ReadyNas Pro Pioneer(x86),
Very fast and responsive !
Great perdormances to browse, stream and transcode music in all formats even with a lot of "heavy" plugins (Erland's) and a 70K songs big library.
NVX seems a good choice and i don't think 2GB extension is mandatory (even if i've upgraded my Pro with a 2nd 2GB RAM module)
