In SC 7.3.x I just loved coming home from work and just press and hold the 1 key to power on and start playing my favorite radio station on my kitchen SB3! That very nice and also very girlfriend-friendly feature is now lost..

Are you running 7.4.0 or 7.4.1?

I'm running 7.4.0. I'm running the 'safe line' of formally released versions.. :-)

Ok, then you should probably have gone to 7.4.1 directly. The presets
migration should have been fixed in 7.4.1... but it's kind of too late
now, as the migration is only run once.

Can you elaborate on the implications of 'migration is only run once'?

If I upgrade to 7.4.1 when it is formally released I can have the problem fixed, right??

No. Presets are saved as prefs. Prefs migration happened from 7.3.x to
7.4.x. Once you're running 7.4.x, 7.3.x settings are ignored.

If you still have your 7.3 configuration files (in the SqueezeCenter
folder), the you could try to uninstall 7.4 again, remove all 7.4 prefs
and re-install 7.4.1. But I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.

Easier might be to play your favorite, then press & hold the preset key to
store it again.

Just to clarify for Ron, preset functionality is still there, but presets are organised in a different way now.

What hasn't worked is the upgrade to 7.4.0 for you, which has lost your preset settings. You can set up your presets again, and they will work.

You can't set presets through editing favorites in the web UI, instead you navigate to an item, and then press-and-hold the preset button.

Yeah, well, the press-and-hold for saving a preset doesn't work very well. If there are several items at a level of the favorites.opml file, then pressing e.g. key 2 steps through these items before saving, so the item being saved is actually a different one than the item displayed once you started to hold key 2...

But I ended up using AndyGuy's post "Workaround for dynamic playlists" to edit the server.prefs file for my four player (client) presets.

Thanks anyway!
