Through the App and through alien BBC World Service is just giving a "there are no programs available" message.

Is there an alternative streaming url that might work?

Try this:

http://www.vpr.net/vpr_files/stream_playlists/vpr_bbc_mp3.pls

Many public radio stations stream the World Service 24/7 on their HD channels. Public Radio International makes the feed available in the US.

Bein somewhat of an insomniac and because it is the only BBC radio stream that I can reliably receive (don't ask) I listen to BBC World Service a lot.

For the first time ever, this morning I started to get the message (something along the lines of) "Transmission of programs on this channel has now finished".

However, it's all OK now it seems....

Yes! It's back to normal now. My budgie is content again, as when I am out, WS is his preferred channel.

I have problems with all BBC stations yesterday, nothing would play for more than 10 seconds without rebuffering.
