View Full Version : Linkstation, OS X 10.6.1, and iPeng

Having upgraded the iPeng app for iPhone on Friday, I realized that I have a mess on my hands.

I have SlimServer 7.3.3 installed via ipkg on a Buffalo Linkstation (NAS). This is the most current version of SS available for this device at present.

I have a MBP running 10.6.1. I have a Windows laptop running XP Tablet. I have an iPhone 3G running 1.2. All of these devices can detect my server immediately; however, none of them can detect my Squeezebox.

I AM able to access Player Settings via the web interface on both the MBP and Windows laptop.

Can someone explain to me why this is the case? The player and the server are communicating just fine, as is the IR remote (obviously).

Thanks.

Now wait a moment.
What do you see if you open the web interface of your Server (on the link station). 7.3.3 should be fine.

What EXACTLY is the url of the web interface (including port)?

Are you SURE your Squeezebox is connected to the server and not to MySqueezebox.com (obviously you are sure if you can play your local music :-) )

Err... No.
You player is not connected to that Server. Any other servers you are running?
Have you checked for MySB.com?

I meant: I can't read anything because the forum scales it down too much!

Does your player have a name?

Oh. Sorry. Thank you so much for your help Pippin.

The player name is squeezebox.

Do you have a way to check whether you probably have two instances of SC running?
the command is "ps -ef" on the linux shell.
There should be three entries, one for "squeezecenter-safe", one for SC itself and one for mysqld (there may be others for mysqld but there should be only one for SC, you can tell that from the parameters).

This is really, really, weird. Do you see anything suspicious in your server.log file (see last page on the server settings)?

Pippin,

Thank you so much for helping. I sincerely appreciate it!

Here is my log. I don't know what I'm looking at...

OK, tons of errors but to me it looks like it's not finding the playlist.
Weird.
I believe somebody from Logitech needs to step in.
To _me_ this really looks like your player is NOT connected to that server, yet of course I do see that the server lists it.

Have you tried a factory reset on the player using the IR remote?

Just did a factory reset (unplug power source, hold down +, plug in power source).

Re-entered WEP key.

Still can't detect the player via Logitech Squeezecenter web interface OR iPeng.

Logitech ought to offer you a position Pippin.

How do I get Logitech's attention?

I'd open a thread "Can't control player in Web Interface/iPeng" in the SqueezeCenter forum.

Well pippin, I haven't gotten much response.

I can't understand it.

When I first downloaded 1.2, I was on the road. As soon as it loaded, I opened the app and saw my player listed, along with the sweet SB3 icon at the bottom of the screen. As soon as I got home, I opened ipeng again and... No player detected.

This makes no sense at all to me.

The information tab lists my player, yet the UI will not let me control it. The same goes for my Windows xp laptop.

Can anyone help?
