View Full Version : SoftSqueeze not working well with 5.2.0

I just wanted to report what I am seeing with SoftSqueeze since upgrading to the official 5.2 release of slimserver.

Playback seems to randomly lock after a few minutes of playback. The music just stops and so does the elapsed time counter. However, the application seems fine. I can still use the remote to forward to the next song or back to the previous. When I hit play again on new song, the musical note appears in the bottom right corner but playback does not resume and the counter stays at zero. If I close down softsqueeze and reopen it. Playback will resume when I press play.

When I first saw this I had just upgraded to 5.2 and was still using SoftSqueeze 0.5.2. I realized that Softsqueeze was set to Slimserver v5.1.5, so I changed v5.2. No luck, still saw the same behavior. Upgraded to SoftSqueeze pre0.6 thinking maybe that would be more compatible with 5.2, but I am still seeing the same problem. I see that there is a pre0.6.1 that fixes a lockup on pause problem. I will give that a try and see if this is a related problem fixed in that patch.

For the record I am using Softsqueeze pre0.6 at work on an XP system with Java 1.4.2 and Slimserver 5.2 running at home on Fedora C1. They are connected over ssh. All my files are MP3 and I am not transcoding them on the fly to a lower rate.

I was using SoftSqueeze v0.5.2 to Slimserver 5.1.5 daily for the past month without a problem.

If any additional info would be of use, just let me know.

Tom

Tom,

I cannot recreate this here. If you start Softsqueeze from the command
prompt do you get any error messages displayed when the playback stops? If
not then could you press CTRL-BREAK to get a thread dump from Java and post
it to me off list.

Thanks,
Richard
