Apologies for re-posting/cross posting - couldn't find my original post!

Hi. I Just installed v.7.4 of the SlimServer software + Squeezebox upgrade.

I own a Squeezebox II. Now I can't use the remote control with the Squeezebox.

- I can use the web interface fine
- I can use the remote to setup the Squeezebox - obtain IP address etc.

But I can't start, stop, navigate the menu, power on/off or anything.

I've re-instsalled the update, but still no joy.

Any way to fix this, or to downgrade? Not got a reply form Logitech support (sent 12hrs ago)

Thanks

I have exactly the same problem with a SB3. Update done and then nothing. The box has even stopped displaying the time etc when it on standby. It works fine on the web interface but nothing with the remote.

check the settings in the web ui. click on the player tab, then select remote. Try checking all options again, and hitting reply. The prefs for the ir maps are full pathnames, so if something ever got customised along the way, the migration may not be taking that into account.

This is what happened to me last night.

Mine's a SB Classic, used with a MacBook Pro.

I appreciate reading the technical assistance in the post just above mine but, frankly, I don't really understand it. I hope, when I try to follow it that it will all make sense.

I have to say, this SB is a great product when it works, but it is SO deceptive.
The instructions present a simple, intuitive walk through installation process, but NOTHING has worked as presented, and everything I've done has required technical assistance.

Same when a relative bought the Duet. Had to get a IT friend with years experience in to figure it out. It took 2 days.

I thought I'd save a pile of money, and get a super cool product for a song with this thing. Instead, I'm developing an aneurism.

I'm quite confident that I'll be spending $3 or 4 k on a transport pretty soon, and the SB will end up a pile of plastic shards under the wheels of my car. If not this time, then next.

I've now tried a factory reset..no joy. I've tried to access the remote section on squeezecentre/settings/player...but it won't load. It would appear that this "upgrade" has killed some SB3's. Not good!

ROFL - sounds like just data entry. IT is not just using word, excel or solitaire. He should find another job. Setting up slimserver took about 20 minutes seeing what each tabbed section does.

Just upgraded to 7.4 without a hitch.

Sure!
You cannot work in IT if you don't master Minesweeper too. ;)

If you do decide you want to run it over, mail it to me instead! I'll
give it a good home!

If a page won't load, there will be something in the logs. Check those.

Ok, ran through the recommended steps.

ff, and rew arrows on the remote cause the title of the playing song to show for a second, then the screen goes black again. Play, and Pause also work. Nothing else.

I've made bug 14485 to keep track of this issue. https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14485

Just a stab in the dark (because I don't know squat about what various pieces of hardware inside the Squeezebox do), but wasn't there a secret button press combo on the remote for an older Squeezebox that forced it to reset its Xilinx chip? Could that possibly be involved in this remote control problem?

Format of files... You mean the music files? Flac files. Surely that' s not what you mean.

I'm not understanding something here.

A magic combination key press of the remote to re set things? That'd be worth a try.

I'd re-install the last 7.3.x software, if I thought that'd do it, but I'm guessing it won't be compatible with the update performed on the SB as part of moving to 7.4.

The secret combo to update the xilinx FPGA is to hold down power (which causes a reboot) OR unplug and replug the unit. When you see the 'Logitech' start scrolling across the screen, press '1' on the remote.

You should see the words 'Programming xilinx' on the screen.

I went back to the last version of 7.3.x after uninstalling 7.4.0. On loading it immeadiately changed the firmware to the previous version and all works as it should.

I have upgraded to SC7.4 and my Favorites have disappeared. Am I supposed to find them in MySqueezebox (this has only my SN Favorites, not the Folders and Favorites that were in SC7.3) and if so how do they synchronise to SC.

If the two lots of favourites remain independent have my SC Favorites been junked and do I have to re-enter them all again. (For what it is worth I did click on the "No" when invited to delete my logs, etc when upgrading.)

As a separate point, entering a name in "Music Library Name" in SB Server Control Panel has no effect on the "My Music" menu. Does this hint at the same or a different problem, please.

Lastly, I note in the release notes that "Now, when you turn off Squeezebox Server you'll be prompted to switch to MySqueezebox.com to continue listening to music". How and when does this happen, I just get the same "cannot connect to server" on the SB and then everything goes quiet. (To check my status I have tried looking in "1. Go to Settings->Home Menu, 2. Scroll down to almost bottom of list, 3. Click on Switch to mysqueezebox.com" but I get stuck at the first item, what and where are the Home Menu - I cannot find it in SC Settings nor in MySqueeze Account Settings.)

Thanks.

The library naming thing only has sense if you have several machines running SBS on your network.
When changing your music source (selecting another SBS), it'll show you the name you've given to the library rather than telling you it's "ip.address.of.machine" or "stupidNameYouGaveToThisMachine". ;)

The SN/MySqueezebox.com favorites are still not sync'd with the SC/SbS favorites. This is planned for a future version.

The update probably wiped out the favorites you had in SC, but if you have a backup of your files you should be able to restore your favorites by overwriting the new, empty favorites file with your old one. The filename is favorites.opml, and the exact location varies by operating system.

Hi.
After updating to SC 7.4 and firmware 130, the display turns black after connecting SB3 to Squeezecenter. On SB3, after disconnect of power and turn on again it is possible to connect to mysqueezebox.com.

The problem seems like the Firewall problem when running SC on windows(XP).
But My system is a Mac Mini 1.8GHz Duo core with OSX 10.6 installed and the firewall turned off.
To verify the problem I did downgrade again to SC 7.3.4 and firmware 127.
Now it is possible to connect to SC again..:-)

Hi.
After updating to SC 7.4 and firmware 130, the display turns black after connecting SB3 to Squeezecenter.

I've had a similar problem/s here and trust this is the appropriate thread.

Upgraded to V7.4 of Squeezebox Server
Update of the SB3 appeared to go fine.

However I seemed to experience multiple issues:

The SB3 screen was blank at most times apart from when it was updating and a couple of times when it was finding the Squeezebox Server. From the server UI, it appeared that the SB3 was indeed recognised but the SB3 screen was blank and I found no way to remedy that.

Reading through a number of threads here gave me the idea that the remote was somehow playing up as well.
On investigating the server web UI, it would not load the 'Remote' page.

To cut a long story short, there seemed to be a number of issues and I suspect the migration to V7.4 didn't go too well. I followed the Wiki article advice on doing a clean install of V7.4 and this seems to have fixed the issues, though I need to re-do all the preferences, of course and I've yet to play any music .. so, we'll see.

I'm hoping this update will also fix the old issue I had.
That is . . when the computer running Squeezebox Server goes to sleep, the SB3 will finish the current track playing and then just stop. Perhaps that's another issue and another thread.

Here's the config:

The 7.4 update bricked my Squeezebox2 also.

1. The remote control only works while the SB2 is in networking setup mode (yes, changed batteries)
2. The SB2 will play music if told to do so via the web interface
3. The "Remote" section of the player setup will not load on the web interface

What's the solution here?!?

Do you see any error messages in the server.log when you try to open that
page?

If you went to the Basic Player settings and reset the player, would this
help?

You do realize that when you say "Bricked" you scare the hell out of a lot of people. Bricked means what it says: The device is a brick, useless and with no response. Yours has a problem but is no way bricked. It plays music and is just not responding to the remote it sounds like. Be careful in what you say because it's pretty scary when you say things like bricked.

FWIW: I fixed the underlying bug causing the "blank screen", "IR doesn't work" and "player settings don't load" issues today. Please update to the next nightly build (7.4.1 rev. 28884 or later)

You're right I should have said "screwed me over entirely so I had to spend several hours fixing the system, pouring over the forums, purging everything from my system, doing a clean install, etc. and pulling my hair out just so I could use the freakin' remote control again."

That would have been far less scary.

You didn't have to throw it away like you would a bricked one. Your's was not bricked, I'm sorry if you don't get my point.
