Hi all,

First I have to say I love my Squeezebox. But, I've been having a
problem with streaming. Until yesterday, my data T1 was used for an
Internet Telephone setup. As a result of bandwidth issues, the
phones didn't work too well, and also streaming music from my home
slim server was continually being "rebuffered" as the network was
prone to "stalling".

Well yesterday, the phones were moved off the data T to another T.
But, the streaming problems continue today. Every twenty seconds or
so, the music drops, iTunes rebuffers, then it continues. Apparently
this is not related to bandwidth. So, what could it be?

I am using a G4 Powerbook at the office running 10.2. My home
computer is a desktop G4 running Panther. At home I have a Cable
Modem and the T at the office.

Any ideas????

Thanks,
Rob

It sounds like you're talking about remote streaming from SlimServer at
home to iTunes at work. What's the upstream bandwidth of your cable
connection at home? If it's lower than the bitrate of the content you're
trying to stream, you may have to use the nifty bit rate limiting
feature in 5.2 (and in the latest nightlies) to transcode.

Thanks for the quick response.

I do not have the problem all the time at the office so it leads me
to believe it isn't a problem at home. I am not sure of the upstream
bandwidth, but I will check that out. Are there any drawbacks to
upgrading to 5.2??
