iPod does not need iTunes. There are several third party applications out
that synchronize your music library to the iPod, one of them is the
excellent ephpod application which is completely free.

I had an iPod but gave it up due to pathetic battery life. I know have a
Rio Karma, the battery lasts three times as long as my iPod battery, and the
sound quality is noticeably improved. The only drawback is that it is only
20GB in capacity, so I must choose which albums to take with me, a
reasonable compromise.

Subject: [slim] To IPOD or not ?

Folks,

I have been a happy go lucky slimp3 player for almost years now. With over
600 CDs online I'm finer than frog hair....Heck I haven't rebooted my audio
setup for over 6 months and that was only because of a power outage snafu.

Now its time to take the next leap. Looking to take my show on the road. I
am looking at buying a HD-based MP3 player. I like the look, feel and
capacity of the ipod but....how will it impact my current slimp3 setup?
Somebody told me that you must use Itunes app with ipod? What exactly does
this mean. Cant I just drag and drop or auto-syn the ipod?

Will I have to do anything to the file structure, format, or resolution of
the current 38GB of tunes I now have. Any ipod/slimp3 folks out there.

Reason I posted here is beacuse I care dearly for my slimp3 setup and would
scream if something mucked it up.

Thanks!

PS> Slimp3 management??? when are you going to have slimp3 shirts we can
order? I have been asking this for some time now. Let's all spread the
word...

I also have a Karma (after 2 iPods), the battery life on it's own makes it
worth buying, plus it supports ogg & flac & is rumoured to have mp2 support
coming. It takes a bit of getting used to after the iPod but it's worth it
