Last time SD introduced a new product line, they had a great deal available to clear out stock on the older models ($100 off two SB3s, IIRC). With the Radio and Touch on the way, has there been anything similar announced (or hinted at) to clear out the remaining Classic and Boom stock?

One of my SB3s just died. I'd really like to replace it with a Boom, but with the Radio so much cheaper, I may try to hold out for half a year. But if there's a deal on the Boom, I'll definitely jump on that.

Given that a) boom is not discontinued and b) the SBC appears to be in
very high demand as people are scrambling to get the remaining stock,
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...

Is the Touch replacing the Classic?

Apparently yes, but not until December according to present reports from Logitech.

The only "$100 off two SB3s" deal that I remember was the one when they *introduced* the SB3. They also had pretty steep discounts on the SB2 at that time ($179).

The Boom is not being discontinued yet, so I wouldn't expect clear-the-warehouse discounts. Certainly not this year. However, a lot of people on the forums have reported getting Booms at various retailers for prices not much higher than the $199 list price of the radio. And this is not counting the great deals people got as Circuit City was going out of business. Look around on the net and you might find a good deal on the Boom.

I haven't looked in a while but you could regularly find SB3's for sale online for $230 from various vendors over the past couple years.
Keep you eyes open. :)

I was just checking on my memory (getting more of those "senior moments" lately....). Here's the page with the two-fer deal (http://web.archive.org/web/20051101094932/http://www.slimdevices.com/) from November 2005. And it turns out that they dropped the price of the SB2 to $199 (http://web.archive.org/web/20050828021232/http://www.slimdevices.com/) before they even announced the SB3. (I just love the Way Back Machine (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php)!)

That was the offer that brought me 2 of my 3 SB3s. I got 'em for $199 each because I got the now-extinct wired-only models.
