I've checked the volume. That was not the cause fort he problem. I'm able to
change the volume by the sony remotecontrol. The volume is on highest value
(server and player).

As described before the player (slimp3) starts to play but for example the
remain time is not decreasing. When I switch to that display mode where the
buffer is shown, I can see that network is O.K., because the buffer is
always fully loaded. I spent about 7 hours today in solving this problem,
the slimserver is now installed on all 4 systems I have and am really not
far away from selling the slimp3 on ebay :-( My Intention to buy this gadget
was that I thought that it is more stable and better quality than the
netgear mp101, so I'm a little bit disappointed.

Yours Oliver.

Oliver,

When you say the SliMP3 display shows a progress bar, but no apparent
progress, that points to a sourcing problem. When you press play, look
at the web interface to the SlimServer. Does the status display (upper
right of the page) show "Now playing..." or "Stopped..." above the song
title?

If it says "Stopped", I'd guess that the server is unable to play your
files. To get more information, go to the 'Server ettings' page on the
web interface, click on 'Additional Server Settings', then on 'Debug'.
Check the box for d_source and click 'Change'. Now a link will appear
at the top of the page to view the debug logfile. Click it and try to
play a song on your player. The log information will likely disclose
the problem. If you don't understand its contents, you can post it here
for one of us to look at.

I'm sure it's a simple and easily fixed problem.

Oliver sent me a log dump offlist, and it looks like $realpos is getting
a constant 0. He's using a SliMP3. Is this a symptom of UDP port
blockage?

Good question. Oliver, what version of SliMP3 firmware, what OS for the
server?
