View Full Version : Shortcuts to music folders

I have a folder that contains three shortcut links to other folders containing music. Two of these work; the other doesn't. It is on the same disk, and there are no odd security settings. I can browse all three quite happily in explorer.

Can anyone think of a reason why there should be a problem?

Hi Phil,

I don't know why the one wouldn't work. Can you try creating another
one that's a shortcut to the same folder and see if that works?

I've figured out how to fix it, but I don't quite understand it ;)

I have a folder within "My Documents" that contains some music. If I open an explorer window by clicking on "My Documents" and then right-drag the folder to create a shortcut, this shortcut doesn't work with slimserver.

If I manually go to the physical location of "My Documents" (D:\Documents\Phil\) and right-drag the folder to create the shortcut, this shortcut DOES work.

When I compare the two link properties they look identical. I imagine there's some registry GUID thingie going on in there somewhere.
