I looked over both the SlimDevices site and Live365 for information on how
to get the stream, but I am lost.

I have a XP machine with the latest Slimserver. I followed the instructions
for adding the playlist file and I used their example:

[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://62.49.59.50:8000
Title1=Monkeyfunk
Length1=-1
Version=2

I logged onto Live365. I also tried other combinations, but the following
always happens; The saved playlist is found, I click to play it, the station
shows up on the right and on the Squeezebox but it will not play. It is
stuck on the 'Stop' position. Also, all the 'File' types are selected in
server settings.

Someone please tell me what I am doing wrong

Nevermind...

I tried Shoutcast instead, and got it going without any problem. No need for
Live365.

The "File" line of a Live365.com playlist requires certain parameters to
work correctly. Bitrate, VisitCount, and SaneID.
Bitrate and VisitCount and generally set to 128 and 1, respectively.

SaneID seems to be a unique identifier based on the IP address.

If you add an appropriate "sessionid=" parameter you can convince Live365 to
recognize your VIP account.
My Live365 playlists look like this (with personal information '...'ed, in
this case).

[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=1
File1=http://www.live365.com/play/171368?bitrate=128&VisitCount=1&SaneID=...
&sessionid=...
Title1=Muppet Central
Length1=-1
Version=2

I recently sent a plugin to Dean to automate authentication. As it was my
first I'll let him chew on it before it is unleashed on the masses.

Cheers,
Jim
