Thanks Dean for the suggestion. Tried that - it asked for an IP address
which I gave it. Then I got a message which said that the update had been
done successfully but guess what, nothing has changed. I'm still exactly
where I was before, same message on Squeezebox, etc, etc.

Try unplugging the Squeezebox and plugging it back in. That should get
you back to the prompt to update the firmware. Press and hold
BRIGHTNESS again and see if the firmware update works.

If it doesn't, and using the http://localhost:9000/firmware.html manual
upgrade fails, then it's likely a firewall problem that's preventing
the SlimServer from connecting to the Squeezebox on port 31337. Check
your firewall software to make sure that this is allowed.

If that doesn't do it, then contact support (AT) slimdevices (DOT) com and we'll
figure out what's going on.
