View Full Version : Problem with Shoutcast and losing server

I am a total newbie! Only bought and installed my new toy yesterday! I was
delighted to see that it supported Shoutcast directly but disappointed when
it didn't work! As soon as I try to connect to (almost) all Shoutcast
sources, I loose my connection to the server and have to reset the server to
establish a new link. I have read that this is fixed in 5.1.6 and so I
downloaded the nightly upgrade. Now I have it, I have no idea what to do
with it as it just looks like a load of files to me! Can I get an .exe
version from somewhere or would some kind sole explain to me how to install
and upgrade my system so that I can listen to trouble-free Shoutcast?

BTW, I am running 2 PC's, one is a wireless laptop and the other a wired
desktop. They are connected to 1MB Cable via a Dlink 713P Wireless router. I
am running XP Pro SP1 on the desktop (server) and XP pro SP2-RC1 on the
laptop (I know, all sorts of problems with this!)

Many thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Sounds like you got the wrong file.
If you point your browser here http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/ there's a .exe to download. It's third or fourth one down. Just download it and install over the original.
The nightly downloads are bleeding edge coding. You may experience some problems, you may not :-)
