View Full Version : No AAC playback on Windows 2003 Server

I'm running Slimserver 5.1.5 as a service on Windows 2003 Server, and
everything is setup as it should be (lame is in the path). Whenever I
have AAC files in a playlist, the Squeezebox usually skips right past
them (sometimes it acts like it's playing the whole song, but no sound
comes out of the Squeezebox). When it gets to the next MP3, it plays
like normal.

I tried running as a normal app, but still had no luck.

When I connect to the Slimserver's web interface, it thinks the AAC
file is playing. mov123.exe shows up in my process list and
everything.

I downloaded and installed the 5/27 nightly, but I still have the same
problem with it. If it matters, I'm using iTunes with the Slimserver
software, but I have the same problem when I use the normal Slimserver
database.

Here are my AAC or movie file lines from the File Types server information page:
AAC or Movie File AIFF squeezebox [mov123] $FILE$
AAC or Movie File MP3 * [mov123] $FILE$ |
[lame] --resample 44100
--silent -q 9 -b $BITRATE$ -r - -

Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Will,

It sounds like you are trying to play a Protected AAC file bought at
the iTunes Music Store with the latest version of iTunes installed.

Unfortunately, Apple changed QuickTime in the latest release in such a
way that prevents any non-Apple software from playing back iTunes Music
Store songs.

The best bet would be to burn and re-rip the songs in a non-protected
format so that you can listen to the music that you already paid for.

Right you are. I thought I'd de-DRM'd them, but I must have missed a CD or two.

Thanks!
