At work i cannot install any additional software on my computer. Still i would like to be able to play my (mainly) flac files stored on my SC server.

I can access the squeezecenter webinterface, but how do i play the files.
Is there a plugin which encodes the files to mp3 and then plays them via a webbased flash player or something like that.

You might want to look into winamp remote. It's free, and I think it will do what you're looking for.

Thanks, but my server is a thinclient with just a basic headless debian OS. I don't think i can install winamp(remote) on this server

Sure, I have this (http://musicbrowser.sourceforge.net/) already, but it does not play flac via the flash player (flash does not support flac). We need something similar but then with transcoding.

If you can already access the web UI from work, you've already won half the battle. Otherwise, you need to adjust your home networking gear to forward the necessary Squeezecenter ports to your server.

Make sure you have LAME installed on your server.

When at work, I'm assuming you'd be accessing the web UI by using the URL of
http://yourhomeipaddress:9000/

To listen in, point whatever media software you have on your work PC to
http://yourhomeipaddress:9000/stream.mp3

You may need to adjust some settings by going into the SC settings, going to the Player tab, and selecting your work player from the drop-down list.

You may need to adjust some security settings under the Advanced tab.

After that, you should be able to control it just like any other using the web UI.

Suppose there is no mediasoftware? Just a webbrowser.

Depends on your browser configuration. When I access stream.mp3 with my browser, a browser plugin launches which let me listen.
