Everyone seems to have trouble with playlists, creating them, in SC. How about a playlist creator that is just a popup window that you can keep on top and drag files from SC into? Once you get what you want you just hit save and it's a playlist. Probably too simple or dumb but I think something needs done to simplify playlists. Any ideas out there? I know Musicip is great but sometimes you just want to be creative and do your own. It's not real easy as is noted in the forums. Maybe if we give ideas on how we would like it to be, it might come to fruition.

A first step would be to make it possible to create playlists without choosing a player.

(A workaround is to choose the controller as player and start to build a list there but never start it just save it for later use)

Another workaround (I think I even once filed a bug for this) that could be simple would be a "stub" player for moving playlist items into. Then you could use the "normal" playlist creating mechanism and if you want to control your current music you just switch back to the "real" player.

Please have a look here, and if you agree vote for the feature http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=11565

Thanks

Hmm I think that drag and drop between left and right pane is one of the things thats is down right impossible in a web based interface.

Maybe the playlist editor could be some kind of (shudder) Java application.
That would make it cross platform and it could load on every computer browsing SC not only the one that has SC installed.

But as you say it should not be overcomplicated for that we have tons off other apps that we could export playlist from.

My playlist needs are simple as I'm a typical album listener in most cases.
But sometimes I just press random and watch out what's happening.
Or line up my newest albums or similar artists.

Edit: Not much of new flashy features, just smother and less awkvard handling of playlists and some more features to accomplish that

But then you are stuck creating playlists on your PC, and if you're going to do that, there are already tons of good music programs that can do it easily. The problem is that the new playlists then need to be scanned in by SC, so it adds a delay.

The Playlist Manager plug-in really does this so well, but the developer can't seem to get the help he needs to make it work in the WebUI and on the Controller. Maybe if more people vote for this bug, he'll get the help he needs:

Personally, I think it should become a bundled plug-in, fully supported by Logitech.

So far Foobar has been perfect for the way I build playlists. Admittedly I only have 7,000 songs, but I can load every single song in Foobar, sort or filter them and then select the ones I want and put them in a playlist. Foobar allows you to save them in several formats, one of which is m3u for SB. I built a playlist last night for songs I have done by multiple artists.

Am I missing something or will this work for you guys.

Have a great weekend.
