View Full Version : Settings Manager - few questions re linkedprefs

hi all,

Am having some trouble understanding the "linked prefs" feature in
Settings Manager; would anyone be able to clear it up for me, please?
I'm running 2.1.12 on SC 7.4.

- how do I actually select the players I want linked? Is it solely in
the "copy to" list, or does it also include the "copy from" list? i.e.
do I have to actually do a copy to link prefs?

- once linked, is it entirely automatic? i.e., if I have two players
with prefs linked, and I use SC to change one's settings, outside of
Settings Manager, are the other players' settings changed too,
dynamically? I seem to be seeing some odd results.

- is it possible to have multiple sets of linked players? e.g. can I
link my Receivers together, and separately link my Booms? When I try
this, I only seem to see the last set linked, under "choose settings to
copy".

thanks much for any comments.

cheers,
calum.

Yes, you have to perform a copy. The From and all To players will be linked.

It should be completely automatic, though sometimes SqueezeCenter doesn't seem to respect the new pref right away. For instance, when I tested linking power off brightness, if a linked player was already off, I had to turn it on and then back off for the pref to be recognized. (SettingsManager sees all pref changes and applies changes to the other players as appropriate.) Could you share details of your odd results?

That's right, SM currently only allows one list of linked players per pref.

thanks very much, Peter, (and for such a useful plugin),

I'll test again; it's possible I was confusing myself...

ah that's a shame; any plans to extend this in the future, to allow
multiple lists of linked players?

thanks again,
