Hello - My first ever posting - please forgive me if I am repeating anything that has gone before.

In fact - this is a problem that I have seen raised before but am still in search for an answer to.

I have removed all traces of slimserver and re-installed from 2004-05-20 latest version.

I am running on a Windows 2000 Pro workstation with all latest patches, 1GB RAM and have 2 x Slimp3 and 1 x Squeezeboc attached.

The current problem that I am seeing is that the server keeps on scanning - or at least reports as such. After about 15 hours it all goes fairly slow and the web interface is slow to respond.

It as all stable on 5.1.4 as far as I could remember but reverting back to that release did not cure the problem (though I did not remove all traces of Slimserver before installing 5.1.4)

I would be gratful if someone could point me in the right direction.

The scan can take a whire as I have 1800 albums, 4200 artists and around 50k songs - all MP3.

Kind regards

Richard Scales

Richard,

Did you ever resolve this problem? I can't seem to reproduce it here.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you have a shortcut in your
music folder pointing to another folder or to itself...

Thank you for your note.

The whole folder thing had been stable since 4.x though I have recently
moved machines/disks etc and I noticed that a shortcut in one folder pointed
to another disk, I changed it to point ot a folder rather than a drive- all
seems static and stable (nightly 31/5).

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards

Richard
