This is not really a big deal but a nice have. Maybe I am doing
something wrong on my setup that will fix it.

Whenever I get the latest nightly one setting always has to be reset and
that is the setting to TURN OFF the Remote control for JVC (I do this
because I have JVC equipment and it causes issues).

Well the way I handle updating the software is I download and extract
the software to /usr/local/bin/Slimseerver_vXXXXX/ and then point a
symbolic link to /usr/local/bin/slimserver/ . My init script runs the
..pl from the sym link directory and loads the pref file from
/etc/slimserver.pref. This works well, however the player setting for
Remote Controls always gets written to the prefs file as this:
"00:04:20:05:00:28-disabledirsets0 =
/usr/local/bin/SlimServer_v2004-05-19/IR/jvc_dvd.ir"

I tried changing it to the sym dir but it always gets changed back and
when I update the server I have to go and change that.

So is there someway I can tell the server to "run from" the symbolic
directory?

That's a reasonable request. Can you add it to
http://bugs.slimdevices.com so we can work on it after 5.2 goes out the
door?

Thanks,

dean
