I have been using squeezecenter for a few years now and think it is great.

However recently I have been trying to setup squeezeslave.
But so far havn't been able to get it working.

I am running squeezecenter Version: 7.3.2 on a linux machine running mythbuntu 8.10

I read that I have to copy the files in to folder /usr/local/bin
make it exacutable and then run the command.

/usr/local/bin/squeezeslave --retry --signal

to get it to work but I just get an error message.

PortAudio error: Host error.

Please can someone let me know where i'm going wrong.

What is the name of the tar file you downloaded?

What version of squeezeslave are you running?

Are you using alsa or oss audio?

That error usual indicates that the user you're running squeezeslave as doesn't have access to the audio device.

If you're not running ss as root try adding the audio group to the user.

Run this command as root;

usermod -G audio username

Log out and back in for the group changes to take affect.
