View Full Version : Wireless signal strength display on the server?

Is there a way to display a player's Wireless Signal strength on the
server/browser?

The reason I ask is that I've hacked up a Pringles Antenna, and I'm
trying to get it lined up for the best signal. This requires some
athleticism when the Squeezebox is at the other end of the house.

BTW, the Pringles has improved the signal strength from 20% to 50%. The
player is much more reliable now.

SlimServer 5.1.5, Firmware Version: 10. Linux RH 9. Pringles Original
flavour.

What you need is a friend to watch the SB while you line up the antenna.I know, hard to come by, technological solution much more attractive :-)

I tried that with my family, but they soon ran out of patience. I won't
be able to resist fiddling with it in the future, so I agree, a techie
solution would be much better.

The player is at one end of the house, the server/WAP/Pringles can at
the other, with several brick walls in between. I can't see the player
and fiddle with the Pringles can at the same time, so I need something I
can display on the PC screen, which I can see
..

This is a good suggestion. Can you file an enhancement request so it
doesn't get lost?

Thanks,

Anybody want to have a go at adding audible feedback?

Not hard to do... record numbers 0..100 and just read them off

Kevin Deane-Freemen added the wireless signal strength to the Player
Settings page. Look for it in the next nightly release.
