View Full Version : 5.1.6 and LR channels reversed

Dear,

My squeezebox is still reversed and i do think it is critical. Music doesn't
sound right when it is reversed. It is like wearing your left shoe on your
right foot. You can walk but do not ask how it hurts!
Stereo is a "trick" from engineers. It is supposed to fool your brains to
make it sound like the original (live) with only 2 speakers. This can only
work if sound that is suposed to come the right comes from the right.
Otherwise the staging "dies" and it doesn't sound right.

I realy hope this problem is addressed soon because the two main reasons for
my purchase of the squeezebox were the digital output (rule out any kind of
transport problems) and native flac/wav support (no conversion to mp3
first).

Jaap,

I think Sean is aware of the problem since we have been several to report it.
Give him some time.

I'm sure that you will find that Michels' "this is not a critical problem at all"
refers to the 'long' settling time for the PCM clock
- it comes from a discussion that he & I were having on this issue,
even if the subject line of the posts was "5.1.6 and LR channels reversed"
(apologies for the confusion).

Clearly having the channels reversed is very bad - critical in fact!

Sean has been aware of the issue for some time,
and I have confidence that he will eventually crack it
- even though its exact cause seems to be somewhat elusive at present ... :-O

Regards

I did not mean that the reversed channel was not critical, I was actually
discussing another issue with Mike... I should have changed the title of the
post... sorry about that.

I agree, this is a serious problem. We're looking into it.
