Dean,

I'm confused about Squeezebox firmware versions.

My recently bought Squeezebox+wifi says it has firmware version 10. I've not
been able to upgrade it.

I've tried the "SLIMP3 Firmware Updater" in the OS X nightly build many
times, but it fails every time. I've come to the assumption that this
updater isn't meant for the Squeezebox, but maybe the earlier SLIMP3 product
from Slim Devices.

But then in an earlier thread today, Kevin Hobbs writes:

To which "kdf" replies:

I would hazard to say fairly soon. I haven't had any trouble with the
newer v2x firmware, but others have. v21 definately had the pause problem
licked, but some users are having trouble doign the firmware update, and a
one second repeat of music when stopping playback. The one second of
music seems to be fixed in a later beta release, but the upgrade problem
still exists.

Kevin says he has v10 firmware, and Kdf says it's fixed in v2x firmwares.

I've got this same pausing-doesn't-work problem while trying to stream my
AAC files. So it seems like a firmware update might fix it.

But how do I update the firmware of my v10 firmware Squeezebox?

Btw, is there _any_ online reference manual about the Slimserver and the
Squeezebox? I've got a lot of things I'd like to know, but there doesn't
seem to be any place to look-up the answers.

if you download the latest nightly build as Dean suggests, then when the server
restarts your squeezebox should tell you it needs to update firmware. The
message requests that you press-and-hold the brightness button to do the
upgrade. For squeezebox, pressing and holding the brightness button on the
remote will start an update of firmware. The firmware to be loaded is
determined by the slimserver.version file included with each build.

Much of the documentation is included in the help section of the slimserver web
interface. There is also an online copy of the squeezebox users' guide that you
would have recieved with your squeezebox. That is located here:
http://www.slimdevices.com/su_documentation.html

There is also the FAQ:
http://www.slimdevices.com/su_faq.html

and the rest is either in the code, or you can ask your questions in this forum.
