View Full Version : Does squeezebox play .wv files?

I thought i read somewhere that it does; but it won't play the .wv files I downloaded (it acts like it's playing them, but no sound comes out, & it keeps reverting to the beginning of the track after 20 seconds or so).

I'm on the Duet.

Thanks.

Wavpack is supported so it should be working. Can you give some more details of your system - SC version, operating system, etc?

Thanks for the reply.

When I open squeezecenter in system preferences it says 7.3.0
When I go to "software update" on the duet handset, it says "software is up to date"
I'm on an imac OSX.4.11.
I keep all my files in an external hard drive, accessed via music folder.
Router is a Linksys wrt54GV8, connected wirelessly to squeezebox.
No problem with any other types of files (mostly flac, a few wma...)

Thanks

What do you have set for Wavpack transcoding in Settings/Advanced/File Types?

FLAC: wvunpack/flac
MP3: disabled
WAV: wvunpack.

upgraded SC to 7.3.2, still won't play .wv files.

Sorry, no more ideas from me (and I don't have any wavpack files to test). Best bet is to give support a call.

Thanks, I tried that, but he didn't think it was supported at all (which it obviously is).

Are you Wavpack files scanned? If so, turn on player.source debug to see why they are failing to play.

Can anyone say whether anybody at Logitech ever tested Wavpack transcoding since the new transcoding framework was put into place?

I had a couple of .wv files laying around that I'd never put into my library, so I just tested it and it seems to play OK. Here are some of the log entries:

Is there supposed to be an extra pipe at the end of the tokenized command? If I execute that same command from the command-line, it throws an error.

Do all transcoding commands use 8.3 file names on Windows? It's possible to have 8.3 file names disabled.

Scanned in what way? (I downloaded the files from a torrent, but judging from the comments, other d-loaders were able to play them)

Do I turn on player.source debug in Squeezecenter?

Yes. It's under Settings > Advanced > Logging. Remember to check the box that says 'Save logging settings for use at next application restart' if you want the new logging level to still be in effect when the server is restarted.
