View Full Version : iTunes and case sensitivity

Howdy all,

I just ran into another minor problem with iTunes support that may bite
other people who mount their iTunes library via CIFS from a Linux host.
Because CIFS filesystems are case insensitive, much like HFS+, you may
occasionally find conflicts if you've ever had an artist or album name
spelled with different capatilization.

For example, I had one song with the artist name set to 'louis armstrong',
and several set to 'Louis Armstrong'. Slimserver was unable to play any
of the 'Louis Armstrong' songs, because the directory had been created as
'louis armstrong' -- which works just fine for anything access the CIFS
share, but not for software accessing the local Linux filesystem.

Not really a bug, but I figured other folks might run into this.

Cheers,

-- Lars
