View Full Version : Winamp playlist problems for BBC radio & unable to updatefirmware.

Hiya,

This is a great device. It is happily playing the mp3's off my main box, and
the shoutcast radio via the remote - perfectly! But a couple of "issues"
[could be RTFM but I don't think so]

1. Playing the Real streams back through the SB is driving me nuts. If I
have winamp already playing the stream on the server, no matter what BBC
radio playlist I select on the SB, the server station is the one that plays.
If I don't have anything playing through winamp when I select one of the
playlists on the Sb, it loses connection to the Slimserver and generally
slows down horrifically.

Or am I missing something more fundamental here - i.e. Do I need to select
the playlist on winamp and the shoutcast just relays it to the SB? I would
like to make it as easy to use with just the remote and the one box (rather
than having to change stuff on the music server) something like the
shoutcast radio plugin option would be ideal, but with the option of passing
the info to winamp.

2. The firmware is at 10, ! Would like to get it updated in case it helps,
As you can see below the updater fails (but the arp has the SB already ID'd)
What service is it looking for with "The specified service does not exist as
an installed service.!?

Welcome to the SLIMP3 Firmware Updater

This software will update the firmware in your SLIMP3 Player to version 2.3.

To get started, make sure your player is connected to the same ethernet
network as this computer. Also, make sure that the SLIMP3 Server software
has been stopped.

Unplug the player, and then plug it back in while holding down any button
on the remote. This will start the firmware update mode. The player's
display will read:

-----------------------------------------
| Slim Devices Bootloader V.03 |
| My MAC is: 00:04:20:XX:XX:XX |
-----------------------------------------

Please enter the player's MAC address as shown on the display, including
the colons:

MAC Address --> 00:04:20:05:1a:7d

Now we'll need an IP address for the player. Please enter any available
IP address on your network.

IP Address --> 192.168.2.4

"Kiosk mode" is a special feature which bypasses this SLIMP3 splash
screen and setup menus. This allows the SLIMP3 to start up unattended,
and to be used in public places where it is desirable to lock out access
to the setup screens. Instead of using the configuration screens on the
player, the setting are installed now, during firmware installation.
Kiosk mode can only be enabled or disabled by running this firmware
updater.

Experts only: enable kiosk mode? [y/N] -->
System error 1060 has occurred.

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

It looks to me as if you are trying to use the SLIMP3 updater on your
Squeezebox. They aren't the same.
