Bill,

Can you post some details on the problem that you are seeing? Example
names, track numbers, disk numbers, what you see and what you expect?

Thanks,

dean

It sounds like you have different album names in your tags: "_Live in
Brazil (Disc 1 of 2)_" and "_Live in Brazil (Disc 1 of 2)_", and
SlimServer thinks that they are two different albums. If you change
the tags to be: "_Live in Brazil)_" and then add the appropriate tags
for disc number, then you should be in better shape.

Also, note that if you do this, you'll probably want to adjust the
track numbers so that they are unique and play back in the order you
like.

Hmmm, if you do that, why bother keeping them in separate directories?
once the track name/numbers are unique, I'd expect it to be easier
to just move the files and have one "album"

Am I missing something?

Thanks

I'm not sure. What's your goal? To treat a multidisk set as one big
list of tracks? If not, what?

To do the least possible amount of work in extracting, compressing and
managing so I can listen to tunes. For me, the point of this
technology is to listen to the magic of tunes.

Just last night, I processed The Beatles "blue" album, aka 1967-1970
It is on two CDs. I extracted it to two directories, there are tracks 1 thru 14
in each.

I had noticed that the "group-disks" did not seem to do anything.
but until this thread, had not worried about it much.

Obviously, I could manually rename the tracks and merge the directories
and then "beatles blue album" would be one entry to browse. Which is
almost the same as in the ancient days of walking to the CD rack, pulling
the jewel case, and putting the CD(s) in the player.

The SlimServer adds the ability to skip the lame tracks in the CD set,
but sometimes you want to play them all just like the Producer intended.

Pat

p.s. no cracks about my needing the excercise of walking to the storage
rack....

Multi Disc seems to be seriously broken on my system.

I have, for instance, a five CD set called "1-2-3-4 Punk and New Wave".
I have been incredibly diligent in iTunes about making sure all
multi-disc CDs have the same name and use the "disk x of x" tag to
distinguish them. In iTunes it shows up exactly right - one entry for
the entire set, and sorting based on album lists all the tracks from
disk one in order, followed by all the tracks from disk two, etc, etc.

In Slim Server I get six (not five, but six) entries for the
aforementioned collection. The first one has just the name of the
collection and includes the first track only from each CD. Then there
are five more albums, named "1-2-3-4 Punk and New Wave (Disc x of x)".
The cover art browser shows five CDs.

Treat multidiscs as one CD is turned on. I turned it off and then back
on again to make sure but it didn't make any difference. All multidisc
collections seem to exhibit this same (mis)behaviour.
