Hello,

I just tried v0.4a with SlimServer 5.1.5 (OSX 10.3.3).
The first time I launched it all was fine. After this
it would not launch. The same thing happened with
v0.3. In the Console there is this log:

[LaunchRunner Error] The main class
"com.slim.softsqueeze.SoftSqueeze" could not be found.
[JavaAppLauncher Error] CallStaticVoidMethod() threw
an exception
Exception in thread "main"
java.lang.NullPointerException

at
apple.launcher.JavaApplicationLauncher.launch(Java ApplicationLauncher.java:52)

I deleted the "com.slim.softsqueeze.plist" from my
preferences directory, but that made no difference.
Can anyone offer a suggestion as to why this is
happening?

It did launch once, but that was it.

Thanks,
Julius

Please forgive me if this is a known bug, I just joined the list.

I was having problems with my server stopping immediately after a
client tried to connect to it and it took me a while to trace the
problem. I found the log file (saw a reference to it in an older post
when I was searching) and it looks like it was a "(" at the beginning
of an artist name.

I have an artist in my list called "(The Real) Tuesday Weld)". I added
( as a prefix to skip in the server settings and it looks like that
causes a RegEx error, bringing down the system as a whole.

My kludge fix was to go into iTunes and remove the parentheses from the
name (and I took out the ellipsis at the beginning of another artist's
name just to be safe) and now it seems to be working fine.

Perhaps this could be corrected in the next update of the software?
Will it work okay if I put non-alphanumeric characters inside quotes?

And while I'm here... has anyone got duplicate letters in the directory
at the top of the artist and album listings? The shortcuts on my
browser go like this...

- 1 4 5 7 9 A B C D E F G H I J K L
M N O P R S T S T U V W X Y Z

(Note the double "S T")

Both S's and T's go to the same point in the list. It doesn't seem to
cause any problems apart from this cosmetic blemish.

cheers
adam

Julius,

It looks like something is wrong with how softsqueeze is being started. Are
you double clicking on the SoftSqueeze.jar file? Did you install using the
..dmg file or .zip file?

Regards,
Richard

I don't know for sure that this was the problem, but I took it to mean
that the "(" was causing a problem and removing it solved the
problem...

Unmatched ( in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/^(
<-- HERE The|El|La|Los|Las|Le|Les|...|()\s+/ at Slim/Music/
Info.pm line 1809, <PLIST> line 33.
END failed--call queue aborted, <PLIST> line 33.
