Hi all,

Searched on the newsgroup to do this. Followed the instructions from
"Summary-How to use Real Audio, Spinner, Winamp, and Shoutcast to
Squeezebox" and I am so close I can smell it.

Winamp works - the winamp playlist plays the BBC stream on the server
Shoutcast recognises that there is input and output and the bars go up and
down in the volume display. The webserver responds on 8000 and says the
server is up.
My slimdevice works fine for MP3's and the shoutcast radio's etc

But the playlist in the slimdevice directory to play the Real streams
doesn't work according to the writeup - VERY frustrating! The slim just says
stopped.

Any ideas? I guess the thing that is puzzling me is the link from the
slimdevice playlist via the shoutcast port 8000 to a winamp playlist - is
there a specific location for the playlists to be stored (currently winamp
has its in its own directory, & the slimdevice has them somewhere else.

Firmware is at 10,

First you need to make sure you can see your saved playlist from the
Squeezebox and the web interface. In "Server Settings" there's a setting
labeled "Saved Playlists". You really just need one for this, regardless
of how many different stations you listen to via Winamp->Shoutcast.

First question: why is the port 8001 if Shoutcast is broadcasting on port
8000?

My playlist looks like this:

[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://192.168.11.37:8000
Title1=Shoutcast@Laptop
Length1=-1
Version=2

(I tend to run stuff on my laptop since it's with me in the same room as
the Squeezebox. In any event, the IP address is of the laptop which is
running Shoutcast; Shoutcast is broadcasting on default port 8000.)

I saved this in a file called Shoutcast (AT) Laptop (DOT) pls in the directory I set
for saved playlists.

One thing I found: the link you gave:

> http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/ram/r3g2.rpm

didn't work for me. I had to save that link to disk, open it and extract
the rtps:// link:

rtsp://rmlivev8.bbc.net.uk/farm/*/ev7/live24/radio3/live/r3_dsat_g2.ra

Not sure why.

In any event, that one saved playlist works for everything broadcast via
Shoutcast on my laptop including your BBC RA link.
