I'm new, so if this is placed in the wrong forum, the mods can certainly re-direct it.

I'm wondering about a way to add Sporting News Radio to my favorites. Does any one have a web address that will work for this channel?

I'm also wondering about adding some XM channels. I did see a post where there was a plug in, but it was only for Windows, not for Mac.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

I was getting SNR fine on both my Boom radio and my regular Squeezebox radio. About two weeks ago, Sporting News Radio changed to the Stream The World crap. I was able to locate the address : http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/SPORTINGNEWSRADIOAAC.pls

What I'm wondering about is that this address plays on the regular squeezebox radio, but not on the Boom. Why would this be?

I'm also trying to get The Walrus 105.7 from San Diego, but I'm running into the same problem-will not play on the Boom.

Thoughts appreciated.

My other question is why Sporting News Radio is not in the database of stations--both ESPN radio and Fox Sports Radio are.

The format is AAC and this format can be played natively by the Radio and Touch but not by the Boom. To play this station on a Boom you need a local SBS which will transcode the stream from AAC into a supported format. MYSB.com does not support transcoding.

Try adding this link to your favs:

Thanks for the reply. Could you please post the entire address? This address has the "..." and it is not recognized. There should be something like "id=s____" with the station number. Thanks for any help.

Sporting News Radio is already in the RadioTime directory, however they recently switched to AAC which is not supported by Boom unless you have the Squeezebox server software installed on a computer to transcode it.

If you find a station is missing, instead of going through the complicated process of manually adding the stream, you can always go to RadioTime.com and request it be added to the directory, and you'll be able to access it in the guide with extra data (logo, schedule, etc) that other stations have, not to mention by telling RadioTime about the station, it can be enjoyed by everyone else too.

BTW, Stream the World as a streaming provider is not crap in anyway what so ever, they are highly reliable, have great up time, utilize things like load balancing and cdn's to always connect you to a server that's close to your ISP for performance. The issue is that some stations opt for AAC only, not realizing that the majority of products out there still do not support aac, and the only way to resolve that (without installing the Squeezebox Server software) is to contact the station itself and request they provide an mp3 stream too.

Try this URL:
http://2643.live.streamtheworld.com:80/SPORTINGNEWSRADIOAACCMP3

If you copy & paste it into your MySB Favorites it should play if you have a Touch or Radio (older players won't play AAC).
If you have an older player, or prefer using SBS anyway, cut & paste to your SBS Favorites.
