View Full Version : Song count off in 5.1.4?

I just installed the 5.1.4 release (on Mac OS X 10.3.3), and notice that
the web interface is reporting:

Your music library contains 253 albums with 0 songs by 391 artists.

Now, I *know* that there are more than 0 songs there, and in fact the
server will happily play them...

LOL. I know they are there too, and I can fid them by browsing albums
etc., but not by using the playlist.

Here'a a snapshot:

Heres a screenshot of "browse songs" which reports "88 albums with 0
songs by 380 artists" but yet displays all the songs. Huh?

BTW, in spite of the Playlist song count issue, I want to report that
5.1.4 seems to be working flawlesly with AIFF files over Airport
wireless. Either that or it's the Asante router which replaced the
old D-Link (DI-740). Either way...no drop-outs, skips, hiccups at all.

You'all have turned the premature gushing of the MacWorld review to
real praise for a real product that delivers in real time (except for
the Playlist song count burp, of course).

Congrats!

I know you are confused, but this seems to happen a lot. For some odd reason,
the count is so easy to break :)

Fortunately, the numerical count really isn't directly related to the actual
songs themselves. The songcount++ gets skipped but most times the rest of the
info is totally intact.

I understand. However, the real issue is this: if I click on one of
the playlists, it does not list the songs in the right column...and
so the playlists are unplayable. I'm not concerned about the number
of songs being correct, just that the songs show so I can play them.

Or perhaps I am being unclear.

Thanks,
Mark

There were some big changes to the cache functions in 5.1.4 and it looks
this broke iTunes support.

There's a one line fix (patch attached) which should sort the problem out.
Sorry about that.

Dean: Can you apply this please?

Cheers,

I am having the same song count problem. Mac OS 10.3.3 just upgraded
to slimserver 5.1.4. When I browse by artists I get "881 Albums with
0 songs by 270
artists". iTunes has 884 Albums with 12609 songs by 274 artists. I am able
to play my 12,000 songs just fine and I am not too concerned about the slight
inaccuracies in the number of albums and artists, but what's up with
the songs?!

The monkey that clicks the counter went on strike ;)

the new caching routines accidentally cut out iTunes tracks from the counter. it
should be fixed soon.
