View Full Version : Browser cache issues with web interface

Whne using a set top box TV internet browser (www.netgem.com), using the
handheld skin (haven't tested with others), there is a problem with the
cache of some of the pages.

For example the 'status' page does not move onto the next song in the
playlist if I select the 'next' link. If I click on the status link at
the top of the page the song name does not change even though the next
song has started.

I do not know if this is a problem with the browser software, slimserver
or a combination of both. I do not know if this affects other browsers,
but I know Firefox and Internet Explorer operate fine.

I have devised a simple fix by putting the following lines in the file
pageheader.html of the handheld skin:

<META Http-Equiv="Cache-Control" Content="no-cache">
<META Http-Equiv="Pragma" Content="no-cache">
<META Http-Equiv="Expires" Content="0">

This corrects the behaviour in the set top box browser.

Does slimserver normally provide cache/exiary information, and is it
just that my odd browser software isnt picking it up?
Should the above fix be put into the main code? (I know some NetGem set
top box users have given up trying to control slimserver form their set
top box)
