Matt,

I had this same problem initially and I now have .jar files associated
with C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\javaw.exe
(assuming same Java release and default installation directory).

I've got no idea if this is theoretically right or not, I just played
around until I got it to work. It seems to work reliably for me.

Cheers,
Mark.

did you extract the zip file with full paths? Some of those jar fies need to be
in a lib subfolder, or it wont find the classes.

Hi Matt,

how did you extract the zip file? Three of the files should be in
a lib subdirectory, otherwise I believe you get problems like this.
If you just dragged and dropped from WinZip it'll be wrong. Extract
it using the menus/buutons in WinZip and make sure you have the
"use folder names" option ticked.

SoftSqueeze is worth it.....

Cheers,
Mark.

I think the hierarchy should be (I'm using a development release
that *might* be different from 0.4a):

SoftSqueeze.jar
softsqueeze.jnlp
lib
jl0.4.jar
log4j-1.2.8.jar
ostermillerutils_1_03_00.jar

In my experience, the easiest way to make Winzip play ball is simply to
right-click on the .zip file and select 'Winzip'/'Extract To Folder
c:\blah\blah' and let it do it automatically, creating a sub-folder in
the folder you're working in. Then move this sub-folder to wherever you
require.

That should work from a default Winzip installation and result in the
hierarchy that Mark has described below...
