View Full Version : Odd problem with Slimp3 on a Squeezebox dominant network

I have a three music players on my wireless network.

I am running Slimserver 5.1.1 on OS X (10.2.8), the music clients
consists of two wireless Squeezeboxes and one Slimp3 (with a WET11). I
just got the Squeezeboxes a few weeks ago and they are running the
firmware that came with them. I updated the Slimp3 to the latest
firmware from Slimserver 5.1.1, so I guess it has the latest firmware.

The music network works just great, most of the time. However,
occasionally it hangs up. Usually turning off the plug strip with the
Slimp3 and WET11 is the only way to correct the problem (the Slimp3 is
nor-responsive from the remote). I am not sure what causes the
problem. I am stuck in a rut right now (need to make more playlists), I
have three playlists (from iTunes) that I play mostly. One is about 2
hours long, one about 4 hours long and the other about 7 hours long. It
doesn't seem to be a problem with any of the MP3s, as the Slimp3 will
work just fine through any of the playlists with repeat, then sometimes
it will just hang randomly.

Usually when I am using all my music network I will set it up from the
browser interface, then start all the players simultaneously, most of
the time this is OK, sometimes after several hours of play the Slimp3
will just stop responding and I will have to power off/on to correct it.

Yesterday I tried setting up the network using the remote at each
device. I first started playing one Squeezebox, then went to the
second Squeezebox, powered it up (pushed the red button on the remote)
and selected synchronize to the first, the currently playing song
started over on the first and started on the second. I then went to
the Slimp3, powered it up (pushed the red button on the remote), and
selected synshronize with the others. This stopped the music and I had
to power the Slimp3 off/on and go to the browser interface to get it to
run.

I realize this is a bit long, but I wanted to try to explain the
problem in hopes that someone else may have either seen it or have a
clue as to what is happening.

Thanks,

Andy

Can you try power cycling just the WET11 and/or just the SLIMP3 the
next time this happens? I'd like to know which item really needs to be
restarted.
