How can I save an MP3 stream to a file while it is being played?

Thanks in advance,

With general questions like these, will anyone asking (not just you)
*please* say what OS you are using. I know Windows XP is the most
likely, but there are significant numbers using Mac OS X or Linux.

I don't use Windows, vaguely think that Winamp does what you want,
but someone else will be definite.

On Mac OS, Audio Hijack (shareware) is a nice program that does what
you want for any sound files. I use it a lot with the BBC "Listen
Again" feature, whixh comes out either as RealPlayer or through the
browser, and can save either way.

Sorry for not being clear, I am using Linux. By the way, I know that I
could do this using xmms and vsound, but I was wondering if there is a
way to save the same stream that the slimp3 is playing like others
suggested in this thread.
I use my Slimp3 mostly to listen to internet radio, and I would like to
record a few programs.
This should not be hard to do on the server side, right? Maybe I should
submit a feature request...
