View Full Version : Customizing SB - barcode scanner

I'm trying to find an application for SB in a musical store. Thousands
of CD and cassette titles to select from. You take one, scan at a
listening station and listen... to whatever media laid out in the store.
I tried to do this using plain vanilla software player, like WMP9, a
small program written using JS, XML and XHTML, and Zebex barcode scanner
in keyboard wedge mode. If I knew how technically to add a barcode
scanning functionality (onboard SB or separately), I could customize SB
to this end.

P.S. instead of IR Remote, two serial devices - barcode scanner and a
keypad (3-4 keys). On the server side a controlling program takes
decisions based on a key code from the keypad or a string from the
barcode scanner. Basically during the search process a program simply
needs to look up a translation table whose format is barcode-CDid (or CD
path on HDD).
The cataloging software must have a built-in functionality to store
barcodes and write this table to HDD.

Regards, Andre
