View Full Version : 7.2.1 - Controller won't upgrade

I just installed SC 7.2.1 on my Windows XP (+SP3) setup. SqueezeCenter works fine. The controller says an upgrade is ready. It copies the upgrade, verifies for a while, then puts up a message box: "There was a problem upgrading this remote. Please try again, or contact support."

I have tried turning off the controller and downloading again, with no more success.

Is this a known problem?

I ran into the same thing, but got it worked out. I turned off my Controller, rebooted my Ubuntu 8.04 server that runs Squeezecenter (I had not rebooted since upgrading to 7.2.1), turned the Controller back on, ran the update, Controller reboots and I'm now on fw: 7.2 r3191. Hope this helps.

Thanks! That seems to have worked (though the controller reports 7.2r2873 as current, not 3191).

I am puzzled why rebooting the server should affect downloading an upgrade on the controller. Anyone care to venture an explanation? Doesn't the controller download directly from the Internet, even with the server turned off?

I'm not sure, but I don't believe so. For Windows the file lives at C://Documents and settings/all users/application data/squeezecenter/cache

Whenever I want to update of go back I out the firmware in that folder, restart SC and reboot the SBC.
