View Full Version : Can this still be done?

My apologies if this has already been covered here in the forum but I have no idea how to search out this topic.

There used to be a time when i could show the currently playing song on my sb2 and then arrow right and see all versions of that song title that exist in my library. But in the new squeezecenter i can't find how to do this and I think it's because I can't scroll through a song's info and see the song title. There's everything else infowise to scroll through but not the song title.

anyone know if this is still an option? Am I missing something obvious?

I doubt this has ever been possible, as I would _love_ to see that feature
implemented. I can't remember ever having seen it.

it's quite possible my memory is starting to fail me but for some reason it sticks in my mind that this was once a feature of stepping into a song. Perhaps someone else out there- someone who perhaps 'didn't inhale' back in the day- will be able to weigh in.

perhaps you are thinking of a plugin? Doesn't trackstat alter the
trackinfo ui?

No, I never used trackstat AFAIK.

I'm pretty sure the title used to be on the details menu as well. Did it go away the same time "More Info" came along?

Install the custom browse plugin, and you'll get a trackinfo menu that
intercepts the default one. It gives you the song title and the option
to move right and get the artists that have made a version of that
song title, etc. There is also a menu item to get to the default song
info ui.

right on. I did have custom browse installed in the past on my system so perhaps that is why I recall this option. Thanks for reminding me of how to return to seeing the songs.

I have custom browse installed. I added a song that I know I have different versions of by different artists. But I did not see this option to be able to see the different artists listed. I thought it would be under "more info" but it is not. Is there some type of setting in the Custom Browse settings that I need to enable to be able to see this info. ?

I see that "Override standard track details" is in the custom browse settings, and yes, I have this enabled.

Thanks.

It's only available in the player interface, not in web interface.
You will get to it by navigate right on a track into the track details and then navigate right after you have selected the track title.

Thanks Erland. I did try this on the SB3 but I don't have "Track Title" as an option to select when I navigate right. Here is what I get when I navigate right on a song that is currently playing:

1 Last FM: Love this track
2 Artist
3 Band/Orchestra
4 Album
5 Genre
6 More Info:
Track #
File Format
Duration
Volume Adjustment
Album Volume Adjustment
Rating
Bitrate
Sample Rate
File Length
Location
Date Modified
ID3 Tag Version
7 On Last FM Radio
8 Add to Favorites

And that's it. No "Track Title".

????

I do see that for those songs that I have the "Year" field in the tag populated that you can navigate right and it shows you all the songs for that particular year. But no "Track Title" option.

Thanks.

I don't know what needs to be set for you to see track title. After turning on the custom browse plugin, I now can arrow right into a song and see the title and then arrow right again to see all versions of this song in my collection. I don't think I made any special adjustments to the plugin to make this happen. i believe it should work in default mode.

You are seeing the standard track details menu, not the Custom Browse version.
The "Override standard track details" option in the custom browse settings should make sure the Custom Browse track details is shown instead.

Is the Custom Browse plugin successfully loaded ?
Do you see a "Custom Browse" menu under Extras or Music Library ?
Are you using the IR remote, the controller or the web interface ?

Customer Browse v2.3 shows up under Extras on the SB3. In the web interface it shows up under Music Library. Not sure why its different. ?

I am using the IR Remote. And yes, the Override standard track details
is enabled in the Plug-in Setting for Custom Browse.

Is there any errors in the SqueezeCenter log file found under "SqueezeCenter Settings/Logging" in the web inteface ?

Which SqueezeCenter version are you using ?

It is possible - install Erlands CustomBrowse plugin.

On the SB2, this provides an alternative song information browser, which allows the user to right-arrow into the song name to get a heirarchy of artist/album/song for every song that shares the same name.

This is great for finding the original studio album when playing a track from a compilation album.
