View Full Version : Switching left and right channel

Hello everybody!

I have had my awesome SB3 for about a month now, and I have been using it with crappy computer speakers. Today my new Edirol MA-15DBK speaker set came in, sounds good!

But my question is: Is it possible to switch the left and the right audio channel?

I want to do this because my left speaker stands on the right, and my right speakers stands on the left. There is no way I can turn that around, because I need the controls on the right speaker.
I cannot just change the red and white RCA plug around because I'm using the digital out on the SB, and need the RCA plugs on the speakers for my iPod dock.

I can't find anything about it in the SC settings screens, and the FAQ doesn't shows a good result either. Is there a way to do this? Plugin? Future feature request?

Thanks in advance!

I considered getting those, but I'm glad I didn't, I got analog monitors
instead. I think these Edirols have line in too, you better use that.
I'll bet the SB3 has a much better DAC than these speakers. And you get
the advantage of being able to change the plugs around ;)

Like I said. I can't...
I need the analog line-in ports to connect my iPod dock to...

They're quite nice speakers for the price imho. But that's w whole different topic, which isn't the point here ;)

You could probably do it via a file transcoding.

You might be able to add something like this:

flc flc * *
[mplayer] -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -cache 64 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2,extrastereo =-1 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/4 $FILE$ 4>&1 1>/dev/null | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 -

The extrastereo=-1 option swaps the left/right (atleast that's what the man page says)

Oh yes, I remember now, I thought of getting them because you could use
both inputs.

I think I'd just buy a cable, cut it, and switch L/R.

:\
If you teach me how to do that on a Toslink cable I will gladly do so...

SuperQ, can you give me any information on that?
Where can I find out more about this? And where do I insert that?
Thanks!

Sorry, I missed the question. I haven't tried the configuration. Let me poke around a bit and see if I can test it on my linux box.
