View Full Version : Transporter stuck on "Now Playing" / Nothing with Squeezecenter 7.2/7.3

I'm running Vista x64 and my Transporter is connected over ethernet. My router is properly configured and there are no communication problems. Everything works fine with Slimserver 6.5.4.

But if I install any version of Squeezecenter 7.x, the Transporter starts up and shows "Now Playing / Nothing" and neither the remote control or front panel buttons do anything. The remote also acts strangely after the firmware update, i.e. the right button on the keypad won't do anything but the fast forward / skip track button will do the action.

This doesn't seem to be a communication problem, and music plays fine if I control the transporter from SoftSqueeze or the Squeecenter web UI. Just the remote and front panel buttons are useless.

Any ideas ? Is this some known bug with Transporter and Vista x64 ? I couldn't find other references to anything like this.

For the time being I am back to 6.5.4.

Just the question is:
It must be a clean install, I mean , complete remove the 6.5x and restart the PC and after this you can (try) to install 7.x again.

This is one of the reason I used only a NAS/Server for the SC software,
only to aviod.

I'm afraid I can't give a better help on this.

I remember we had an issue with players in 7.0, when they did not have a name assigned. Did you do this for your transporter? Would be a regression we'd have to fix.

I had same problem with SC 7.2, I had to go back to 7.0.1. I have Transporter and SC is running on ReadyNAS.

If this happens and you start playing music by using de web UI, does the remote respond again? I experience such thing with my SB3.

No, it still doesn't really respond. With 7.2 or 7.3 installed, the remote just doesn't work. Basically the Transporter will not go to the Home menus, it is stuck on "Now Playing" thus you cannot access your music library.

I've done multiple install attempts, including clean ones after reboots and manual purging of any Slim/Logitech registry entries, but the problem remains. This is definitely a bug though it may be restricted to the combination of Transporter + Squeezecenter 7.x running on Vista x64. I'd revert to Vista x32 but I have 4gb of RAM installed and would lose almost one fourth of it with 32 bit OS.

I am starting to look into NAS for my music files.

Did you see my previous comment? Does your player have a name? If so, what is it?

Michael,

Player name was set by default to "Transporter". I have attempted to rename it without any difference.

I still have this problem. All the router and firewall settings are in place. With any version of 7.x, the Transporter will only show "Now Playing" / "Nothing" and is stuck there. It will not access my library (which I have purged and recreated). It will not let me go to the home menu where I can choose music library, music folder etc.

If I load a playlist in Squeezecenter directly, Transporter sees this and will let me play the songs. It is like it sees what is on the right side of Squeezecenter, but not the left.

The remote control doesn't really work. I have to hold keys down for a very long time to get a response, and even then it doesn't always work. The front panel buttons don't work either.

I've tried different 7.x versions and different builds, to no avail.

I do not have the problem with 6.5.4, alas it seems to have a faulty digital output. My external DAC will not lock onto the (AES-EBU) digital output of the Transporter with 6.5.x.

This is really frustrating. I'd really appreciate any help or advice on how to get this working.

Here is a log file, after again doing a (clean) install of Squeezecenter, reloading firmware in the Transporter, and connecting via ethernet using DCHP (192.168.1.102) and to Squeezecenter (192.168.1.101). PC with Squeezecenter runs Vista x86 -- I switched from x64 thinking that was the problem, but same issue with x86.

FIGURED IT OUT!

Currently running the latest 7.4 build without problems.

Somewhat by accident, I discovered that I had to deselect front panel buttons in the Player/Remote menu within Squeezecenter. With it selected, most of the Transporter remote control buttons do not work. That is why it was stuck on "Now Playing"/Nothing because the arrow keys were nonfunctional, or not recognized by Squeezecenter.

This is definitely some type of bug, as I can consistently reproduce it with all builds including and since 7.2. And it is not present in 7.1 and earlier builds. So remote handling must have been changed from 7.1 > 7.2 causing the bug.

Another bug I noticed on old builds when trying to revert to 6.5.4 and 7.0.1 -- there is no decodable digital output on AES/EBU whether it or S/PDIF is selected in the player/audio menu. This bug is not present on 7.1 and later builds. As you can imagine, I was extremely frustrated because the builds with functioning Slim/Squeezecenter, I had no digital output; and more recent builds with functioning digital output, I had no remote control or access to music library!

HEllo there
i've encountered the same type of problem with my transporter and the 7.3 update.

I will check this new 7.4 version and give it a try.
