Hey, Does anyone else see this issue:

When playing SomaFM AAC stream (http://somafm.com/play/groovesalad48) through mplayer (Ubuntu 8.04) transcoding to FLAC all of the now-playing visualizations are slow/stutter.

It also happens on other AAC streams, but not playing FLAC files or mp3 files from squeezecenter.

I havn't tried mp3 transcoding. Here is my custom-convert.conf line

aap flc * *
[mplayer] -ac faad -demuxer aac -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -cache 64 -af volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:nowaveheader:file=/dev/fd/4 $FILE$ 4>&1 1>/dev/null | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 -

This behaviour has been there for at least 2-3 years - especially noticable on AlienBBC.

That really shouldn't happen, as far as the player is concerned it's just like it's playing a FLAC file.

Sort of off-topic, but why would you want to play the 48k AAC version of that stream when there is a much higher-quality 128k MP3 stream that also includes track metadata! Try the MP3 stream, I think you'll be much happier.

I just use it as my alarm clock stream, trying to save somafm some bandwidth.

I really wish they would publish a 128k AAC or ogg stream.
