go here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16880100771&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL091608&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL091608-_-UniversalRemotes-_-L8C-_-80100771

and at the shopping cart enter this promo code:

EMCAKBGAD

now, here's my question...

does this remote work well with the SB2 and SBR?

if all i had was a SBR, could it work reasonably with it?

Not at all. The Receiver has no IR input. SB2 it should work fine, though I have only used the Harmony 880 and One with SB players. I assume the database should be common.

right on. so it can replace the normal sb2 remote, and is no good for the sbr.

when comparing the remotes, it seems that the much more costly ones only offer things like color screen, touch screen, rechargeable, etc...

the 550 lists by logitech at $129, so half price essentially.

No one should pay list for electronics :) Amazon list the 550 for $70, so the newegg price is a good deal but nowhere near half price. Oh, and I can confirm that the 550 (and the others) work fine with SB1/2/3/Boom/TP.
