Has anyone tried this?

I'm curious if it speeds up mp3 scanning much, or if it only gets a big
improvement when multiple processes are contending for different areas
of the disk.

I've been planning on installing it; my website is on a User-Mode Linux
server, and the manager recently upgraded it to 2.6. It now takes
roughly half the time to establish a remote login and web pages come
back nearly twice as fast, compared to the late 2.4 series kernel it was
running just before.

I'll try to benchmark the mp3 scanning as soon as I get the rest of my
CD collection ripped (which should be done sometime next week).

Hey Sean,

I just downloaded and installed all the components for 2.6.3-7. I'll try to do
some profiling on 2.4.19 first. If 2.6 boots without complication I can
probably run a few tests over the long weekend.
